Description:
Whoa, Duolingo teaches Chess?
Duolingo wanted the chess pieces from their app as a real, portable set. The app gives you a front view and a lot of personality. A physical piece needs a profile, a weight, and a base that survives being slammed down after a good move.
I sculpted all six pieces, adapting the art from Duolingo’s chess module into forms that read from across the board and feel good in the hand. The knight took the longest: 45 versions before it stopped looking like an icon and started looking like a chess piece.
The set ships in a green zip case with a folding board and a beginner’s guide.
